"Hole in My Life, "Spirits" and "Invisible Sun" are missing. There are some screaming guys throuhgout the show, but not too disturbing this otherwise nice recording. There was a right channel dropout in the first verse of "Walking in your footsteps", I have put this part in mono taking the left channel. No eq, no noise reduction, no speed adjustment. My brother and I have been taping shows for almost 25 years but this is one of maybe two or three that I taped instead of him. I'm sure this finally made the rounds here as back in the day (1980-1983), my brother was one of the few connected Police Traders and we obviously shared it back then! And for the people complaining about shows not being shared/hoarded, the reason your able to get all these shows freely and with no hard work is because of my brother/others working the front line! Now about the show! As luck would have it, I had just started grad school in Miami that fall (we're from Chicago) and was so excited to see them again on the Synch tour. We decided to have my bro ship me the taping gear. Back then we were using an AIWA something with a built in mic. Probably not the best of gear around but we would soon step up to the Sony D6 model. I wound up going to the show solo as my Chicago friends/roomates were not much for concert going. As any good GA show goer I got there plenty early and had a nice piece of ground, center cut, maybe 30 feet back. The Animals and the Fixx were the openers. During their sets and after, my territory/space was no longer my own, in fact it was getting quite Who like. Fearing for my safety, and more importantly, a chance at a decent recording, I fled the area. I remember things being bad enough that before the Police came on, they had to ask the floor/ground people more than once to take THREE STEPS BACK! I moved off to the side away from the craziness and got myself near the stacks where the taping/sound was good. Unfortunately I had some technical difficulties (a rookie doing a seasoned pros' work!) and missed "Hole in My Life, "Spirits" and "Invisible Sun." I think I accidently paused the recorder during a tape flip or something like that. So, sorry for the incomplete show. Someday soon we'll get around to getting the masters out of the vault and in to your ears! Unti then, it's still fun to see one of OURS popping up here. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year #1533344 by exit0 at 2006-12-26 20:30:09 GMT Other brother here. The recorder was an Aiwa HS-F1, and the master tapes were TDK-SA. I have no idea how this show came out so good as every other tape we made with this recorded was real muddy sounding. The bass would overload the automatic gain and drive all the high end away. This one came out really clean and even. Enjoy.
