This is one of the worst tapes EVER! It has all kinds of defects: - It is way too genned, tape noise is so high that I have difficulties to understand what sting says. I can understand the music only because I know the songs! - It has volume fluctations; I tried to mitigate them, but at some point decided that it simply does not worth the effort so more has to be done - There are some cuts between songs, as the taper (or someone else in the lineage) pressed the pause button Moreover I believe is incomplete. Read the story (by me): I first received this tape starting from "Hungry for you", i.e. with the first 4 songs (including "Voices") missing. The sound quality was as bad as this one and the recording lasted only 74 minutes. At some point, it surfaced this "more complete" version, with the first 4 songs apparently from another source, and everybody was happy with it. But I was always a bit puzzled by this more complete version, since I always thought to hear some italian words said by the public in those first 4 songs. But since those words were barely understandable, I did not worry too much at the time and forgot about it. Now, converting to digital, I listened more carefully, and I hear Sting saying "buonasera" ("good evening" in italian) in the first chorus, after the second "Message in a bottle". Don't know why I never noticed before. I'm pretty sure about that. So everything lightened up: the recording of the first 4 tracks IMO is from Bologna. The others are OK. Since it seems I am the only one to care about this (and other issues regarding Police recordings) I've left the first 4 songs so you can judge by yourself. The d1t5 starts where the tape changes so you can throw away the first 4 tracks if you want without losing any bit of the true Aylesbury recording. In this case I have left some extra stuff at the end of disc 1 if you want to join the two discs "seamlessy".... Your opinion on this issue is welcome. The last track is a noise fingerprint taken at the end of side B of the tape, if you want to play with it. If you have a "true" more complete version, or a cleaner one please CONTACT ME.
