I was only planning to up one of these (fixpol83- Foxboro show) but then I took a listen to this and was quickly reminded of a very important detail. This is not just any Police recording. This is a Stud Muffin production, and that's reason enough to up this. Of all disciples of Glasnost Radio Productions, (and their in-training subsidiaries of sorts), the Doctor (of SMP) is the elite graduate. He learned his lessons well and quickly in ferric oxide training and made some great recordings from NY and CT. area. And he loves Sting, both solo and with the Police. That's good news for Police fans. Because nobody I know makes a better recording than the Doctor (of SMP). The Sony D-5 he uses for most of his recordings helps alot. The Nak. mikes used for this are now mine and after a switch repair sound just as good now as in this, which was recorded before the switch broke so it sounds great. No flaws or problems at all, just missing the beginning of the intro walkon Voices in my head and the 1st few seconds of "Roxanne" (tape flip). Everything else is here and you will feel the joy of a Stud Muffin production, because if you have yet to hear one, you have been acoustically deprived long enough! When I considered what shows to up from the Police, I thought gee, Hartford? That's just gonna be an average show. Wrong. I think it may be even better than the Foxboro show, which was pretty good too. And it's indoors so the sound is alot better. Sting's voice is strong, vital and right on, didn't hear any flat notes, the whole band is tight and sounding like they're glad to be in Hartford. I am certain this is my only Stud Muffin Prod. Police recording (who knows how many he has but probably a few) and it may very well be his best one, maybe the only D-5 one he made since he got the D-5 in late 82. To make a long story short, unless you cannot stand anything by Sting, (like my roommate) you will want to hear and feel the joy of this recording. Not much crowd noise on it, and you can hear everything very clearly. Listen to it quietly, or at ear-splitting volume, you will still know right away, this is the best quality audience tape I've ever heard of a larger than theater sized Police concert. Do not sell this recording. Trade freely and losslessly. ---- Note: source #1 Nice upgrade on the copy I already had.
